You can now play online against others on any platform, in real time or asynchronously. Purchasing the Complete Game allows you to create your own decks for use in singleplayer and multiplayer, and create your own multiplayer games.

Oceans is a great strategic board game and I encourage everyone to play it if they get the chance. It's far superior to evolution. This app, however is not. Firstly the UI of the board feel half baked. Cards are hard to read sometimes and zooming in on the sometimes glitches out. Also the highlighting of some possible actions doesn't always work ie; discarding some reef card to migrate. The harder AI is a joy to play against but I've experienced a couple of softlocks in the middle of a game.

I have a few complaints. First, the AI can make weird moves, like allowing a mass extincton of its species because it made too many to feed. Second, the app freezes a lot. I always found it slow when loading and when I close the game, but it never bothered me. Now it gets so slow that I have to close it frequently. It would be nice to have these things fixed. Otherwise, thank you NorthStar Games for a fun and scientific game.

On Easy mode, the AI will intentionally make mistakes to give players the benefit of gaining an advantage. If this occurs in harder difficulties, please let us know. Your issue with loading the game will be forwarded to the team for review.

Oceans was released right before the Covid spread in the U.S. , and honestly was the last board game we played before the lockdowns. I had hoped to use the app to play online with family, but there is no online features and a small micro transaction to unlock 2 player "couch coop". No biggie on the micro transaction. It's refreshing to see a 1 dollar decent unlock, effectively giving you a free demo and 1 dollar for something closer to the board game. Will review again if/when online happens
